Welcome to Caledonian Shelties!
We are a small Sheltie Kennel in Malaysia. Our dogs are our family and we love them very much.

All our dogs are well cared for and are being fed only the finest food made from highest quality ingredients. Their coat says it all !

Most important of all, they are healthy and a happy bunch.

Caledonian Shelties - more than a hobby kennel

I had my first sheltie when I was eight, which passed on from old age. Despite owning other breeds after that, I knew that a sheltie is irreplaceable.

From one sheltie, my passion grew boundlessly. Caledonian Shelties, my hobby kennel now houses eight – four sable and white, one blue merle, one bi black, one tri colour and one bi blue, which will allow my kennel to produce puppies with the whole range of colours.

My dogs all live with me in my home where there is a large open space for them to run.  For the optimum environment I provide, my Shelties are a happy bunch, they have a big place where they can run and play freely every day.

I feed my dogs the best food there is, hence their gorgeous coat. Care and diet make massive differences in terms of overall health and coat quality.

Dogs are wonderful but Shelties are awesome
A naturally clean dog, Shelties are very intelligent, gentle and responsive, caring deeply for its family. They are also known for their uncanny ability to understand you, almost feeling your emotions. And this connection seems to go both ways, for it is said that you can almost see a sheltie’s soul through its eyes. Simply put, shelties are gorgeous, inside and outside.

Their coat only needs 5 -10 minutes daily brushing. As they are naturally clean, Shelties instinctively avoid getting dirty or wet unnecessarily.

They make wonderful pets especially when brought home as pups and allowed to bond with all family members.  Shelties have a sweet nature, always wanting to please and invariably willing, making them ideal companions. It is of course necessary that all family members understand how to treat a dog so that mutual respect is established.  Shelties are very well-behaved and bark only when necessary for example, to alert me of company at the door. They also learn quickly that their barking should cease once they’ve ‘done their job’.

Never rowdy or rambunctious in public or even in the car, people are often amazed at how I handle so many dogs at one time. I often think that it’s not really how skilful I am, my Shelties are the ones who make me look good! They’re such amazing dogs with wonderful temperament and outstanding beauty.

Shelties love children and you just have to see them around children to understand how magical the relationship is. They’re just no words to describe it.

History of the Shetland Sheepdog
The Shetland sheepdog originated from the Shetland Island off the north coast of Scotland. They were originally bred for herding sheep but now make marvellous pets.
It was an invaluable all-purpose farm dog. They gathered and protected the islands sheep, ponies and chickens and even the children. Families brought their stock and their dogs into the family shelter to live. The sheltie became regular family companion as well as a highly valued co-worker.  This long, close association with humans contributes to the dog’s deep understanding of human ways and makes them a responsive companion and natural student. Shelties come in many different colours - sable and white, tri colour, blue merle, bi blue and bi black.

The Sheltie bears a marked resemblance to the Rough Collie, but on a smaller scale. Standard sizes are 13 – 16 inches tall.   They are intensely loyal, affectionate and responsive.  They are reserved towards strangers but never nervous.  Very calm, dignified dogs that can adapt quickly to family life; many sheltie owners are amazed at how trainable they are.
